When you’re younger and in college, you feel as if you have all the time in the world. But you’ll blink and be in your 40’s, 50’s, and 60’s wondering where did all that time go? Marc and Marion are back in action for this week’s Dollars & Sense video podcast. It’s been a jam packed few weeks –everyone hopefully filed their taxes, school was out this past week for Spring Break, the Boston Marathon was on Monday, the Red Sox lost another game, and we’ve enjoyed some really nice spring weather!
Tax season has finally wrapped up. Our team received a lot of calls with a similar tax question this year… *drum roll*….
“Why did I owe so much?!”
Who’s to blame for the hike in what you owe? You may think it’s your accountant’s fault, but we have to say, that’s rarely the case.
Tune in to this week’s episode of Dollars & Sense as Marc and Marion explain why you may have owed more money to the IRS this year, all in a language you can understand.

03-29-2024 Dollars & Sense, What Are Your Expectations in Retirement?
Wednesday Mar 27, 2024
Wednesday Mar 27, 2024
It’s no secret that retirement and expectations surrounding it have changed a lot over the years. Marion’s grandfather was one of the first to pay into social security when it came about during his working years. At the time, you could start collecting at the retirement age of 65 with the expectation that you wouldn’t live much longer since that was the life expectancy back then. It’s crazy to think how much things have changed over the last 90 years. Nowadays, people are still expecting to retire at age 65…but is that realistic?
Tune in to this week’s episode of Dollars & Sense as Marc and Marion talk about retirement expectations in today’s day and age, all in a language you can understand.

03-21-2024 Dollars & Sense, How Acting as a Fiduciary Benefits You
Wednesday Mar 20, 2024
Wednesday Mar 20, 2024
If you’re looking for financial advice in a language you can understand, then Dollars & Sense is the perfect podcast for you.
It’s always interesting to us how many folks think that a financial advisor primarily talks about how best to invest your money. We’re here to bust that myth because that’s not really what we do at Freedman Financial. Now don’t get us wrong, we do invest money, and might we add, we pay close attention to what we invest that money in. However, that is not the main focus of our conversations with clients because we like to take a much more holistic view of your life and your financial situation.
Tune in to this week’s episode of Dollars & Sense as Marc and Marion talk about how acting as a fiduciary can benefit you, all in a language you can understand.

Thursday Mar 07, 2024
You’re in for a special treat this week as Christian Karcher joins our host Marc Freedman on our latest edition of Dollars & Sense.
We all know tax season is quickly approaching, but do you know what else April is known for? If you said National Humor Month, you’re not wrong, and if you know us, you know we love a good joke at Freedman Financial. More importantly, April is known for Financial Literacy Month. We have some exciting things planned for April as we aim the spotlight on Financial Literacy and spend time empowering our listeners with the knowledge and skills needed to make smart financial decisions.
We preach to our followers to focus on what you can control, and since our school systems, especially in Massachusetts, are lacking in financial literacy education, we’re going to do our part by providing you financial literacy advice – all in a language you can understand. If you have any questions about your personal financial situation or would like a second opinion, just reach out!

02-29-2024 Dollars & Sense, Are You Buying for You or Are You Trying to Impress?
Thursday Feb 29, 2024
Thursday Feb 29, 2024
We’re back for another exciting edition of Dollars & Sense. When we hear about real life stories in the office, newspaper, or on television, we try to make sense of those stories and headlines by providing financial advice in a language you can understand. And by now it’s no surprise that a lot of the headline news is sensational, so we try to bring it back down to earth and give you our two cents.
One important piece of advice we want to share with you is not to be lured into impressing other people. How many times have you caught yourself wanting to purchase an item that you normally wouldn’t buy? Items such as name brand clothing or expensive cars tend to be designed to impress others. Feeling guilty? If you’re ready to get serious about your finances, just reach out!
Tune in to this week’s episode of Dollars & Sense as Marc and Marion talk about how buying to impress can impact your finances in a language you can understand.

Thanks for joining us for another edition of Dollars & Sense. We don’t know about you, but this week our phone has been ringing off the hook! Everyone wants to know where their 1099R form is. But not everyone will get one; like those who did not take any money out of their IRA. But wait, there’s more… if you have a personal account, an individual account, a joint account, a brokerage account, a trust account, all other types of accounts that aren’t considered retirement accounts, you may not get them by January 31st each year. These investment companies have the leeway to send them out after January 31st each year. With over 50 years of experience, our team is happy to work closely with you to ensure you’re on the right track and know what to expect every year. Just reach out!
