Thursday Mar 07, 2024
You’re in for a special treat this week as Christian Karcher joins our host Marc Freedman on our latest edition of Dollars & Sense.
We all know tax season is quickly approaching, but do you know what else April is known for? If you said National Humor Month, you’re not wrong, and if you know us, you know we love a good joke at Freedman Financial. More importantly, April is known for Financial Literacy Month. We have some exciting things planned for April as we aim the spotlight on Financial Literacy and spend time empowering our listeners with the knowledge and skills needed to make smart financial decisions.
We preach to our followers to focus on what you can control, and since our school systems, especially in Massachusetts, are lacking in financial literacy education, we’re going to do our part by providing you financial literacy advice – all in a language you can understand. If you have any questions about your personal financial situation or would like a second opinion, just reach out!
Tune in to this week’s episode of Dollars & Sense as Marc and Christian give a sneak peek into the financial literacy topics you can expect next month in a language you can understand.

02-29-2024 Dollars & Sense, Are You Buying for You or Are You Trying to Impress?
Thursday Feb 29, 2024
Thursday Feb 29, 2024
We’re back for another exciting edition of Dollars & Sense. When we hear about real life stories in the office, newspaper, or on television, we try to make sense of those stories and headlines by providing financial advice in a language you can understand. And by now it’s no surprise that a lot of the headline news is sensational, so we try to bring it back down to earth and give you our two cents.
One important piece of advice we want to share with you is not to be lured into impressing other people. How many times have you caught yourself wanting to purchase an item that you normally wouldn’t buy? Items such as name brand clothing or expensive cars tend to be designed to impress others. Feeling guilty? If you’re ready to get serious about your finances, just reach out!
Tune in to this week’s episode of Dollars & Sense as Marc and Marion talk about how buying to impress can impact your finances in a language you can understand.

But not everyone will get one; like those who did not take any money out of their IRA. But wait, there’s more… if you have a personal account, an individual account, a joint account, a brokerage account, a trust account, all other types of accounts that aren’t considered retirement accounts, you may not get them by January 31st each year. These investment companies have the leeway to send them out after January 31st each year. With over 50 years of experience, our team is happy to work closely with you to ensure you’re on the right track and know what to expect every year. Just reach out!

Welcome back to another episode of Dollars & Sense with your hosts Marc and Marion.
There’s been a lot of speculation surrounding the 2 pm Fed Meeting today (1/31/24) and whether they’re going to lower interest rates. Our guess as well as most analysts out there, is that they will not be lowering interest rates – at least for now. However, word on the street suggests there could be up to four rate cuts this year. That’s important because essentially the 10-year Treasury Bond is priced off those rates. So, why is that important? If you weren’t aware, mortgages are priced off the 10-year bond. Have we got your attention yet?
Tune in to this week’s episode of Dollars & Sense as Marc and Marion talk about what the impact of a drop in interest rate means in a language you can understand.

We’re three weeks into January and there’s a lot to unpack! The frigid winter temps are here, we’re pumped that the Boston Celtics are in first place, and we’re in the beginnings of the political primaries. Everyone has a right and obligation to vote, please make sure you exercise your freedom to do so and encourage your eligible children to vote as well.
In this week’s episode of Dollars & Sense, Marc and Marion raise the question as to why the younger generations are having more difficulty living within their means. Has the gradual shift from cash to debit/credit cards played a part in the decline of financial literacy?
